is located in Portugal which about 28 km from Valencia de Alicantara.
The town is a picturesque old hilltop village dating back to the days
of Ibn Maruan, a knight from the glory days of the Ottoman empire.
These days the town is a popular destination for weekend day trippers,
golfers as well honeymooners. The roads thru town are of cobble stones
and snake thru the old tiny hillside quarters with many tight blind
corners. A tiny museum, a rose garden, Ibn Maruan's fort and a tourist
office are located at Marvao's highest point. The view of the surruounding
countryside is truly expansive.
